Berlin to London van transport and part loads

Berlin to London by road

We drive Berlin to London by road, usually west on the A2 past Hannover, through the Ruhr and the Netherlands or Belgium to the Channel coast. From there we cross either on the Eurotunnel shuttle from Calais to Folkestone or on a ferry from Calais or Dunkirk to Dover, then run up the M20 and into London. The road distance is roughly 1,100 km, so this is a planned trip rather than a same day job, and we agree the collection window and expected arrival with you before you book.

What people send from Berlin

Berlin sends a mix we know well: studio and music equipment in flight cases, part flat moves for people relocating to London, artwork, vintage furniture bought from Berlin dealers, and boxes left behind after a move. Because we run part loads, you pay for the space your items take on a van rather than a whole lorry, and we load with blankets and straps so cases and furniture do not shift on the long motorway stretches.

Customs since Brexit

Goods coming from Germany into Great Britain need an export declaration on the German side and an import declaration on arrival. If you are moving home to the UK you may qualify for Transfer of Residence relief on personal belongings, which needs to be approved by HMRC before the goods travel. For trade goods or new items we need a commercial invoice and a clear item list. We tell you exactly which documents we need at quote stage so nothing is held at the border.

Collection and delivery

In Berlin we collect from flats, studios and storage units across the city, from Kreuzberg and Neukölln to Charlottenburg and Prenzlauer Berg. Tell us the floor, whether there is a lift and where the van can stop, because courtyard buildings and narrow Altbau stairwells change how long a collection takes. In London we deliver to the door anywhere inside the M25 and beyond, including the South East, and we can arrange a second person for heavy items.

How booking works on this lane

You enter Berlin and your London postcode on our booking page, list the items, and get a fixed quote. Once you confirm, we agree the collection day in Berlin and share the expected delivery window in London. We keep you updated as the van moves west, and the crew calls ahead before arriving. If your dates are flexible, tell us, because it helps us place your load on a van already heading to the UK.

Timing and arrival

Most of the time on this lane goes on the German and Dutch motorways and the border paperwork, not the Channel crossing itself. We plan driving within legal hours, so a Berlin collection is followed by a delivery a few days later rather than the next morning. If you have a hard deadline in London, such as a studio session or a tenancy start date, tell us when you ask for a quote and we will say honestly whether we can meet it.

Items we are often asked about

Modular synths and outboard racks, vinyl collections in crates, bikes, mid century furniture from Berlin dealers, framed prints, and the boxes people leave with friends after moving to London. Vinyl is heavy, so pack records upright in small, strong boxes rather than one large one.

Questions we hear about Berlin to London

Can you collect from a studio rather than a flat? Yes, and from storage units and offices too. Do you deliver outside London? Yes, across the South East including Sussex, Kent and Surrey, so places like Forest Row or Tunbridge Wells are fine. Can I send just a few cases? Yes, part loads are what this lane is built for. Will you take items that are already packed in flight cases? Yes, and we prefer it for fragile electronics.
