Not for the job you locked. You pay a fixed total online — not an hourly meter that climbs while people stand around. Be straight with us about items, stairs and access up front. If you add stuff or change the job later, we re-quote and you agree the new total before we do it. No doorstep haggling for “extra cash” is the deal on both sides.

What if the van is late, cancels, or doesn’t show?

Accepted Answer

Moves can go wrong — traffic, breakdowns, illness. We don’t pretend otherwise. What we do: the job sits on our desk (not a random auction win), you get live GPS when a driver is assigned, and if we can’t run the job we refund in full. Same if you cancel 48+ hours before collection. We’ll always rather reschedule or refund cleanly than leave you arguing in a chat thread with no answer.

What if you send the wrong van or the wrong crew?

That’s on us to match the job. Tell us volume, heavy items and stairs when you book so we send a suitable van and crew. If we get that wrong and the job can’t be done as booked, we fix it — rebook the right setup or refund. We’re not perfect; we own the booking instead of pointing at “a driver who bid on the app”.

How do refunds actually work if something goes wrong?

Clear rules, not a fight: cancel 48+ hours before collection → full refund. We cancel or can’t provide the service → full refund. Inside 48 hours, we’ll still deal with it case by case (costs may already be committed). You book and pay with us directly, so you’re not chasing a marketplace middleman who says “talk to the driver”.

What if something gets damaged?

We’re careful, but vans and stairs are real life — damage can happen. Tell us fragile or high-value items when you book so they’re on the job sheet. Goods-in-transit cover options apply as agreed at booking; claims need photos and notes from the day, not a vague “enhanced insurance” line with no detail. We’ll treat a fair claim seriously; we won’t pretend every chip is impossible.

How is this different from marketplace / bidding apps?

Book direct with JKE: one operator, one fixed price, one team, live GPS. No bidding war, no mystery van that won the auction, no mid-move haggling, no “driver cancelled — refund refused” ping-pong. Marketplaces can be fine for some people; if you want a named operator and a locked price, that’s us.

No. We are a Greater Manchester / UK-wide operator — we book man and van across the UK and run Europe corridors too. Same book form, same fixed-price style — not a one-city side hustle.

Depends on distance, load and crew. Short local jobs often start around £49; bigger or longer moves cost more. You see the fixed total for your postcodes and items before you pay — no surprise hourly bill at the end.
